Let’s talk, just the two of us. You’re holding this newspaper in your hands. I started this thing 15 years ago and love you, at least a little bit, because you’re a reader and Real Change would be nowhere without you.

Maybe that sounds like BS, but it’s true. It’s also true that, since you’re holding this paper, you know one or more of our vendors. Odds are that you care about him or her at least a little. Maybe a lot.

Real Change, right now, is in a hole. Here’s the equation: Rising Street Desperation plus System Change Imperative in a tough fundraising environment equals Unsustainable Capacity Challenge.

Were I to draw this on a napkin as we sit here, sharing this moment, it would look like this: (RSD+SCI) - $$$ = UCC.

Today is June 30. We’ve raised more than $1,000 a day over the past two months of our Summer Drive for a total of $66,852.69 so far. We’re on track to beat last year’s total.

Impressive, but not good enough. Why? Because (RSD+SCI) - $$$ = UCC.

So here’s my question. Are you with us? Our foundation for uncompromised activism and unconditional opportunity for the very poor depends upon your support, and we need your help. Now.
