On Fri., July 31 the North American Street Newspaper Association (NASNA) announced the winners of its 2009 awards at a ceremony in Denver, Colo. Encompassing a variety of diverse categories such as Best Interview, Best Series, Best Vendor Essay and Best Cover Design, the awards celebrated the increasing popularity and high-quality journalism displayed by North American street papers. NASNA Executive Director Andy Freeze said, “The contribution of North American street papers to the communities they serve cannot be underestimated.
