Fri., Aug. 21, 11:48 p.m., Terry Ave/Pike St. Seattle Fire Department (SFD) called police officers for assistance as they were dealing with a mentally ill male that they had responded to treat. According to SFD, when they arrived the subject, a white male aged 32, began running in front of passing cars in an apparent attempt to be struck by a passing vehicle. Further, the subject was observed screaming at an unoccupied vehicle. Police officers contacted the man and detained him. Subject was identified, and told officers he had been awake for the past two days. He also stated he could not recall the last time he had eaten food. He was acting very confused and seemed disoriented. Officers were approached by a witness who stated that he had been letting the subject stay at his place, and that subject has been very upset over the last few days. He stated he had been trying to help him out by giving him a place to stay and food to eat, but subject has a problem with substance abuse and spends long periods of time living on the street. He is concerned for subject’s safety and lack of proper housing and care. Subject stated he has a personality disorder and said he did not know if he was supposed to be taking medication for his disorder. He was transported to Harborview by ambulance for an involuntary mental health evaluation.
Tues., Aug. 25, 10:50 p.m., Third Ave. Officer was dispatched to a call of a reported violation of an anti-harassment order. Upon arrival, officer met with the victim, a transient male aged 27, who stated that the suspect, his ex-girlfriend, had approached him in City Hall Park earlier in the day. Victim showed officer a copy of an anti-harassment order he had out against her, which stated she had to stay 500 feet away from him. Victim stated that when suspect approached him in the park he told her she was not allowed to contact him and asked her to leave. Suspect then began following him down the street yelling at him loudly. Victim went into the Downtown Emergency Service Shelter, where he receives services, and suspect followed him in. She began telling staff that victim would be arrested for being the one near her. She then called 911 and said she would wait outside for police to arrive. When officers arrived she was gone. Victim was given a case number.
