Army general’s visit highlights generation gap among veterans

As he opened his slideshow detailing the stresses of modern warfare on the modern soldier, General Peter Chiarelli (ka-rel-ee), Vice Chief of Staff of the U. S. Army, told the crowd he hadn’t come to discuss the merits or legality of fighting two wars.

“We may disagree on the mission,” Chiarelli said at a May 9 town hall meeting at UW’s Kane Hall, “but we can all agree we need to take care of our veterans when they return from war.”
