For thirteen years Real Change has kept poverty, homelessness, and other injustices in the public eye and engaged poor and homeless people and their allies in the struggle for justice. For the first time this year, we’re complementing our journalism and advocacy with this voter’s guide to Seattle City Council races.
The fast-paced growth and development of our city – evident from Downtown to Ballard to Rainier Valley – will make some people very wealthy and turn Seattle into a world-class city for the rich. But that same growth may also leave no room for the rest of us. This guide includes responses to three important questions about how candidates intend to make Seattle a world-class city for everyone.
Our online guide includes responses to an additional series of questions developed by Real Change vendors. Those addressed frustration with the inability to find a living wage job and affordable housing, the great need for more accessible health care, reform of the criminal justice system, and more.
