Thurs., Jan. 4, 11:54 a.m., Third Avenue, Pioneer Square Clinic.
An officer was dispatched to the clinic and spoke with the complainant, a Harborview Medical Center caseworker based at the Pioneer Square Clinic. The officer also spoke with the program manager at the subject’s shelter — both requested that the subject, a transient white male aged 53, be taken to Harborview for an involuntary mental evaluation. They did not have a court document but stated that the subject has been staying at the shelter for several weeks and has been deteriorating. He has assaulted staff in the past, and staff are afraid for their and other residents’ safety. He has also thrown a chair through a window. Today the subject has been rocking back and forth talking unintelligibly and repeating himself. Witnesses stated this behavior had been going on for around four hours prior to police arriving. As subject was sitting in the smoking room, the other smokers had been removed for their own safety — subject kept throwing lit cigarettes on the floor. Suspect was also reported to have medical issues he would not let be treated — a foot problem and a lesion on his backside — he appeared unable to care for himself. Subject was cooperative and agreed to be transported to Harborview via ambulance.
Thurs., Jan. 11, 5:35 p.m., Western Ave., I-Click.
Officers on foot patrol spotted a large group of individuals huddled in a doorway of I-Click on Western Ave. Officers contacted all subjects in the doorway, and a name check revealed one of the people, a transient Black male aged 36, was active with the Department of Corrections (DOC). Officers contacted his DOC officer and advised her they had contacted her client. Suspect is active with the DOC for drug violations and hanging out in high narcotic areas; he also had an open 12-ounce can of Milwaukee’s Best beer, and admitted to officers he had been drinking the beer prior to their arrival. His DOC officer requested that the police transport the suspect to the West Precinct for parole violations. He was transported to the Precinct, where he was interviewed and released.
Sat., Jan. 13, 11:20 a.m., W. Dravus St.
Victim, a transient white male aged 41, and witness, also a transient white male, are local panhandlers known by officers to inhabit the W. Dravus St. overpasses. Victim states that the suspect, a white male in his 40s, pushed him, and he fell to the ground while at the northwest corner of the overpass. Witness said he saw the incident occur while all three men were on the southeast corner of the overpass, and stated the victim did not fall on the ground. Suspect left southbound on a Metro bus. Victim stated that he did nothing to provoke the push by the suspect. Relations between the suspect and victim are unclear – victim stated that he knew where the suspect lives, as he has a friend that lives in the same building, but he did not know the suspect’s name. Officer states victim seemed intoxicated, but there were no obvious injuries, and no medical attention was required.
