Edgar, Montiel, and Maria Castaneda admire a portrait of Frida Kahlo at the Cascade Peoples Center’s Day of the Dead festivities on Sun., Oct. 28. The portrait, made of wet earth and tempera paint by Fulgencio Lazo, Victor Gonzalez, Mitha Gonzalez, Jesus Mena, and Amaranta Ibarra, commemorates the centenary of the Mexican artist’s birth. Día de Los Muertos takes place Nov. 1, All Saints’ Day. All Souls’ Day follows, on Nov. 2.
