After six months of fighting to keep her Burien home out of foreclosure, the phone call that Georgene Monday got on Feb. 23 was strange, but nothing short of miraculous.
It was a clerk calling from her loan servicing company, Saxon Mortgage, which had refused to offer any help back in September when Monday and her brother fell behind in their payments on the five-bedroom, split-level home that they share.
The clerk wanted to go over Monday's monthly expenses again, pointedly asking her, "I'm sure that you had your cell phone disconnected, right? We need to take that off your budget."
