Sat., Aug. 1, 11:42 a.m., Eighth Ave./Pine St. Officers were dispatched to the above address to the radio message "OLD CAMERON BLDG, VACANT AND SHOULD BE LOCKED UP, TRANSIENTS GOING IN /OUT OF FRONT DOOR AND BROKEN ON WEST SIDE GROUND LEVEL 10 MINS AGO." Upon arrival officers found the windows to the apartment building smashed. The building was four stories with a basement and still had working power, lights and air conditioning. Complainant stated he had seen several people he believed to be squatters on the roof in the past few nights. Seattle Fire responded to the scene and the building was cleared without incident. No arrests were made.
Sun., Aug. 2, 7:53 p.m., Summit Ave. E. Officers responded to Angeline's Women's shelter on a report of a theft. They arrived and contacted the victim, a transient white female aged 27. She stated she was in front of Angeline's and an unknown female suspect came out of the shelter and asked her for a cigarette. Suspect was unknown to the victim, but introduced herself and put her bag down next to the victim's belongings. Victim reached into one of her own bags and looked up to see the suspect running away. Victim noticed that her purse was open and all her money was missing. Officers interviewed the staff at Angeline's, who said they had no record of the suspect staying there. Victim stated she could positively identify the suspect, and was advised to call if she saw her again.
Tues., Aug. 4, 8:34 p.m., Bellevue Ave. Police were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery on Bellevue Ave. When officer arrived he contacted the victim, a transient Native American female aged 57. She stated she was standing in front of a convenience store with some friends when the suspect, who was known to all of them, came up and asked for money. She then gave victim a hug, and stole her hat and wallet. When victim asked for her hat back suspect pulled out a folding knife. Victim ran inside the convenience store for help, and officers arrived in time to contact the suspect, still wearing the victim's hat. Suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail.
Wed., Aug. 5, 12:00 p.m., Pine St., Westlake Park. Officers observed suspect, a transient white male aged 25, out in public at Westlake Park. Officers had prior knowledge that suspect had been trespassed from the park for one year in '08/'09. Suspect entered the park, and spoke with a group of individuals. After receiving a cigarette he left the park. Officers then contacted him, and verified the park exclusion notice. Suspect was arrested, and demanded to be released with a warning. Officer asked him if he remembered the parks exclusion, and he said yes, that's why he didn't stay in the park when he saw the officers. He was reminded of the boundaries in regards to trespassing, and stated he understood but wanted another warning. Suspect was booked into King County Jail for trespass.
