A trial date in the alleged attack on two Muslim women has been set for Aug 9.
Jennifer Leigh Jennings is accused of attacking a nursing student and her aunt at a Tukwila gas station last fall. She is charged with malicious harassment.
On May 27, Superior Court Judge Mary Roberts granted a delay to Aug. 9 so that Jennings can seek mental health counseling. The trial had been scheduled for June 9.
The alleged victims, Imaan and Maryan, asked that their last names be withheld for fear of reprisal. The two were wearing traditional head-scarves when they pulled their SUV into the gas station on the evening of Oct. 16, 2010 ("Two Muslim women attacked in Tukwila," R.C. Oct. 27, 2010). As Maryan tried to work the pump, Jennings started yelling "suicide bomber" and "you don't know how to pump gas, go back to your country," charging papers allege.
