Protect Our State’s Health Care Safety Net
- Issue: Since 2002, Washington State’s health care crisis has been severely worsened by short-sighted budget cuts that have overwhelmed local hospitals, clinics, and emergency rooms, put affordable health care out of reach for tens of thousands of children and working people, and driven up costs for everyone – both insured and uninsured. Over the past two years, more than 80,000 new people have lost health care insurance in Washington state – for a total of nearly 590,000 uninsured residents statewide.
