Correction & Amplification:
- The Pike Market PDA did not have permission from the Market Historical Commission to remove a double-sided bench in May 2004. At the time, the PDA said it was removing the bench under the Market’s north pergola for repairs. Last September, after community members complained about the still-missing bench, the PDA applied for the bench’s permanent removal, which the commission vetoed. On Feb. 23, 2005, the PDA got the commission’s go-ahead for a new plan to replace the bench with an information booth / security office. Market craft vendor Sharon Mukai has appealed this to a city hearing examiner, but lost.

Help get $100 million for the Housing Trust Fund
