"Blue. That's Gloria's favorite color.
Why? "Because it reminds me of the air," she says.
And Gloria's an artist: her artwork is well known around the Real Change office. In fact, you can find it hanging on nearly every wall. She frequently donates her drawings to staff and other vendors as a gift, and we're proud to put it on display.
"I just started about four to five months ago," she says.
But you wouldn't know it from looking at her work. Let's just say she's one of those people who are talented from birth.
Gloria uses detailed line drawings and blended colors to compose her scenes, which are mostly pictures of nature and the environment. Some are conceptual. Others are realistic. But each is unique.
"That's the sun," she points to one, "And that's an owl."
90-second video interview with Gloria, by Alex Becker, Real Change Intrn & Contributing Writer.
We take a tour of the office to view her drawings. She points to another. "That's a bird," she says, "and that's a bird with a heart." Birds seem to be a theme in her work.
To the world, she says, "Work with the environment. Try to keep it clean and safe for others."
How? She suggests going down to the waterfront and picking up cans and bottles. That's what she does.
"If you don't keep the environment safe, no one else will."
