The state's public housing authorities will receive $40 million in stimulus funds for housing improvement projects -- a much-needed shot in the arm, according to a statement from Sen. Patty Murray, (D-Wash.), announcing the funding, which was included in the American Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed by President Obama in February.
The $40 million includes $17.1 million for the Seattle Housing Authority and $7.4 million for the King County Housing Authority. "In the face of an ongoing recession," Sen. Murray says, "this funding will help create local jobs, provide better and more affordable housing and help struggling families meet their most basic needs."
