Fri., June 26, 11:18 a.m., Tent City, 35th Ave. Officer was dispatched to a report of an assault at Tent City on 35th Ave. While en route to the location he learned that the victim was being transported to Swedish Hospital. Officer contacted the victim, a white male aged 35. He stated he was in the kitchen making himself and his wife something to eat when he was struck from behind on the head and neck with closed fists. Victim stated the suspect then turned and struck his wife. Victim stated he believes this happened because the suspect thinks that he and the victims wife have a romantic relationship. Officer contacted the security guard at Tent City who confirmed that the suspect had attacked the victim without warning. An area check for the suspect was negative.
Fri., June 26, 2:23 p.m., 500 block Third Ave. Complainant, an employee of the Downtown Emergency Services Center (DESC), called 911 to report a suicidal male. Subject, a transient white male aged 43, was leaving on foot. Officer arrived and was flagged down by the complainant on Third Ave. He pointed up at Courthouse Park and stated that the subject was inside the park and was holding a large packet of pills in his hand. Officer contacted the subject who said he wanted to "off himself" and said he had tried suicide in the past by overdosing on pills and cutting himself. Complainant verified that subject has a history of mental illness and attempted suicide in June. He had been placed into ICU and received mental health treatment and released. He then picked up his medications and had taken more than prescribed. Subject had stated he was "done living." An ambulance arrived and transported subject to Harborview for an involuntary mental health commitment.
Fri., June 26, 2:59 p.m., 200 block Pike St. Officer on foot patrol was flagged down by pedestrians who pointed out the subject, a transient black male aged 36. They said he had been yelling and jumping out into traffic, and had nearly been struck by traffic. Subject was contacted and appeared unfocused. He was rambling about talking to God, and whenever officer asked a question, subject seemed to be listening to someone else for a minute or two before answering. Subject stated that God was talking to him. Officer believed that subject was a danger to himself due to his distracted and unfocused manner. He was transported to Harborview for a mental health evaluation.
Sat., June 27, 11:59 p.m., Rainier Ave./S. Kenyon St. Officer was driving southbound on Rainier Ave. S. when he observed the subject, a transient Asian male aged 23, standing on the corner of S. Kenyon/Rainier Ave. S. Subject fell to the ground, got up and fell to the ground again. Officer exited his vehicle to contact the subject, and observed him trying to stay up by holding onto another male that was with him. The other male had to assist the subject in standing, and subject was mumbling incoherently and not responding to questions. Officer called Seattle Fire, who responded to the scene and determined subject was under the influence of narcotics, and that he needed medical attention. Subject was transported to Harborview Medical Center for assessment.
