Wed., Aug. 19, 11:01 p.m., Boren Ave. Officer observed the suspect, a transient Native American male aged 52, in the parking lot next to the northside wall at 19th and Boren Ave. He was about 30 feet from a clearly visible sign stating "No Trespassing, No Loitering." Officer could smell an obvious odor of intoxicants coming from suspect, and saw he was holding an unopened can of beer in his hand. Suspect was arrested and booked for criminal trespass.
Thurs., Aug. 20, 10:15 p.m., NW Market St. Officer was dispatched to a call of a person down in an alley off Market St. He arrived to find the subject, a transient white male aged 65, lying on the ground next to his wheelchair. He was covered by a blanket, and when officer contacted him he could see his forehead was swollen and covered in dried blood. When officer asked him what had happened he stated he had fallen earlier in the day. Officer told him he could not lie in the alley and needed to go someplace else, however subject was unable to get up and into his wheelchair on his own. Officer then called for an ambulance to take subject to hospital, as it was clear he could not care for himself, and he could not be left in the alley. When medics arrived subject stated he might have had an epileptic seizure, and that he was not sure where he was. He was transported to hospital for treatment.
Fri., Aug. 21, 8:55 p.m., Virginia St. Victim, a transient white male aged 24, was walking eastbound on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of Stewart St. Suspect came from behind him, snatched his backpack off his back and continued running eastbound. Victim stated that as the suspect ran he opened the backpack and removed a plastic bag containing victim's cash, ID and medication. Suspect then dropped the backpack to the ground and continued running. Victim lost sight of the suspect, retrieved his backpack and walked to the West precinct to file his report.
Sat., Aug. 22, 8:19 p.m., Alaskan Way S./St. Martin de Porres Shelter. Subject/complainant, a transient white male aged 54, contacted officer in person and stated that he had been living at the shelter. He had been playing cards with some friends when the suspect, an unknown male, came up to him out of the blue and stated, "I'll be dealing with you when I get you in the bathroom." Subject stated he took this as a threat, and reported the incident to a staff member. The staff member stated that they could not do anything as they had not heard suspect making the threat. Subject then said "I'll deal with it on my own." Staff members took this as a threat made against the suspect, and so subject/complainant was removed from the shelter and barred. He left the premises and contacted the police. Officer went to the shelter and contacted the staff member involved. The staff member stated that subject had been barred for making a threat against another client. Officer also contacted the suspect, who said he had never threatened anyone, but had bumped into the back of subject's chair as he was playing cards. Suspect stated he thought that the subject was off his meds. All parties were provided with a case number.
