Wed., Oct. 21, 9:51 p.m., Downtown Emergency Services Center, Third Ave. Officers were dispatched to the Downtown Emergency Services Center (DESC) on a report of an assault that had happened in the bunk room. They arrived and found that both parties involved are DESC clients. Victim, a transient male, was standing in the bunk room talking with a friend when the suspect approached him from behind and attacked him by grabbing him and punching him several times in the face with a closed fist. Staff heard the commotion and walked in to observe the suspect taking a fighting stance with his hands up, facing the victim. Staff also noted that victim's face was flushed red. Staff separated the two, and police were called. When officers interviewed the victim they noted his face was still flushed. He wasn't bleeding, but complained of pain to the head and face. An ambulance was called, and victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment. Suspect was arrested for assault. After being read his Miranda Rights he stated he did not remember what had happened and denied assaulting anyone.
Thurs., Oct. 22, 11:34 p.m., Atlantic St. City Boat Ramp, Seward Park Ave. S. Officers were dispatched to a report of an unconscious male in the park. Officers arrived and found the victim lying on the ground behind the restrooms, bleeding profusely from the face. Police called Seattle Fire Department (SFD) for aid, and they arrived and began to give the victim, a transient male, medical attention. Victim stated he was unable to remember what the suspects looked like, but believed he had been attacked by three or four Pacific Islander males, all dressed in black clothes. He said they pushed him down and began kicking him in his back, stomach and face. After the assault the suspects ran off in an unknown direction. Officers note that since Tent City has been located at S. Cloverdale St and Wabash Ave. S., there have been several reported severe assaults on homeless people. Each victim has said the suspects were Pacific Islander or Samoan, but none have been able to identify the suspects. At the time of the attack victim was drinking from a case of 211 Steel Reserve beer, which was stolen during the assault. An area check located two males drinking from cans of 211 Steel Reserve that exactly matched the can found next to the victim. All the cans were collected and submitted into evidence. The names of the men were run through the computer, and both were found to have outstanding warrants. These were verified, and the suspects were placed under arrest.
