This Saturday, May 8 the Seattle Police Chief Search Committee will interview 10 candidates for the job. An executive search firm presented the committee with 11 candidates, one of whom has subsequently withdrawn. Three of the candidates come from within the Seattle Police Department's own ranks.
Committee Co-chair Charles Rolland praised the selection of candidates, saying in a press release, "Because it's such a quality group it will be a challenge in bringing this to the final three for recommendation to the mayor." After this week's interview the committee will vote for their top three choices at a public meeting Tuesday, May 11. Mayor McGinn will then select a chief in early June.
