The City of Seattle will hold a public meeting on legislation that would put up to 4,500 housing units at the redeveloped Yesler Terrace.
The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. March 7 at the Yesler Community Center at 917 E. Yesler Way.
The City of Seattle this month released its draft legislation for the new space, which replaces the Seattle Housing Authority campus where 561 households now live. The city's legislation is based on the Housing Authority's proposal for the area and rezones the area for redevelopment.
The new mixed-use development would include enough housing for existing residents as well as space for offices, retail and medical services.
The new space will provide housing for those who are extremely poor to those with 30 percent to 80 percent of the area's median income.
The city is collecting comments on the legislation through March 19. Send comments to [email protected] or call 206-733-9668.
Revised legislation will be submitted to the Seattle City Council in the spring.
