Regional leaders gathered Dec. 1 to announce a renewed partnership to combat homelessness throughout the region.
The initiative, called One Table, is meant to synchronize efforts in the public, philanthropic and business communities throughout King County to identify short and long-term strategies, produce more affordable housing, address impacts of homelessness on marginalized communities and eliminate barriers that impede the implementation of solutions to homelessness.
Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, Auburn Mayor Nancy Backus and King County Executive Dow Constantine will co-chair the group.
Federal resources are funneled through the Seattle/King County Continuum of Care, a regional entity that submits funding applications to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. All Home King County leads that effort by “developing a common agenda and plan of action” to combat homelessness by bringing together local government, religious institutions, nonprofits, the private sector and engaged citizens, according to its website.
