King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer sent out an email blast to constituents promoting an interview with Dori Monson in which he referred to people outside of the King County Courthouse as “animals.”
Von Reichbauer said that the courthouse should be “the center of civilization for a county” and a place that “everybody can come to and feel safe,” which must be news to over-policed, marginalized communities.
He went further down the rabbit hole by suggesting that the county sell the building to a company such as Urban Visions, a luxury apartment developer.
These new housing units probably won’t be in the price range of DESC clients, who live across the street.
