All that family is is a room full of people with a candle in the middle of it.
… All that family is is keeping the candle lit.
What do you do when one relative says,
“Ba Humbug, gafaw, I can’t do this, WHEW.”
And blows the candle out.
First of all, the whole room is dark.
… Do you grab the guy’s collar and say,
“Hey, you just blew the candle out. You take responsibility, and relight the candle.”
Or, do you let go of the guy’s collar, and nurture the candle back to light?
What do you do if another relative wags her finger in the wick of the candle, causing shadows on the wall … thereby creating attention by doing negative things? Do you grab her finger, and make her stop?
Or, do you let go of her hand, and nurture the candle back to light?
We may be putting Dr. Phil out of business.

And what needs to happen for the guy to relight the candle …
What I say is, “Let go of the collar, and nurture the candle back to light.”
