Editor’s note: Odin Bartlow, 58, needs a kidney transplant but hasn’t been able to find a donor. His mother, Maria Bartlow, asked Real Change to print this message, lightly edited, from her Facebook page, encouraging people to sign up for the Living Kidney Donor Questionnaire. Kidneys are different from other organs in that, while we have two, we only need one. That means people can save lives while going on with their own.
Hello Friends,
Just want to remind you that I’m still searching for a kidney donor for my son, Odin Bartlow. Please spread the word and send some prayers up for us because we need a kidney soon.
All you have to do is complete the Living Kidney Donor Questionnaire online. They will let you know if you are a candidate for the procedure.
More information can be obtained at UC Davis Transplant Center in California; the phone number is 916-734-2111, or toll-free: 800-821-9912. Their email is
[email protected].
It is essential to say that the kidney is for Odin Bartlow, November 21, 1964.
Please note you do not have to be a perfect match, such as blood type; if you are incompatible but still a good candidate for a kidney donation, they have a program called Paired Exchange, which means that person will donate to someone else so Odin Bartlow can get the match he needs sooner.
