Your article on homelessness [Jan. 11’s “Service refusal is not a myth, but it is surrounded by them”] was very informative, so thanks.
However, I was disappointed that you used the word “canard,” which means “false or unfounded,” referring to the belief that some people prefer to remain unhoused because they want the freedom to practice their addiction. This is, of course, true. At one time, I was a homeless addict myself. No, I do not think all people on the street are addicts, but a significant percentage are. I think you really harm your credibility with this kind of inaccurate statement.
We’re used to getting accurate information from you, I believe, so keep that up please.
